Asimov Quest
Asimov is smart. He's nice. He's got a
great work ethic. Somehow, though, he's never made it past making
twelve dollars an hour doing tech work at a copy place. He loves
science fiction and fantasy. He tells people that his mattress is on
the floor because he likes the Japanese way of keeping a bedroom but
the truth is his bed broke one day and he hasn't gotten around to
replacing it.
Zoe Weber
Zoe loves life. She adores the heck out
of it. Despite the fact that she almost always speaks her mind, she
always seems to make friends. Her preferred style is punk, though her
taste in music runs to anything local. Right now, Zoe's working
at Copy King because she has taken a break from college.
K.C.
Only John and Dante, the management of
Copy King, actually know K.C.'s real name and they haven't told
anyone. He's something of a savant. When he runs the black and white
press the machine never breaks down, never jams, and the jobs always
come out perfect. He regards the press as an equal, calling her
DeeDee and gets upset when others don't do the same. K.C. has an
active imagination.
Charles Kent
Charles is an artist. He'll be the
first to tell you that. He only works at Copy King because , as he says, the
ignorant public has yet to embrace his paintings. Charles has very
little tolerance for other human beings and store policy is to have
him interact with customers as little as possible. He's a genius it comes to color.
Eddie Moon
The first thing most people notice
about Eddie is his size. He's built like a football player and has a
few extra inches of height on top of that. Eddie
keeps to himself. He doesn't talk about his life or why he needs to
work three different jobs: a day job, his job at Copy King, and
bouncing at local clubs on the weekend.
John Weber
John is, as his sister describes him, a
sports watching, beer drinking, pick-up truck driving sort of guy. Still, a lot of people
wonder why he frosts the spikes in his hair. John's main concern as
manager of Copy King is profit.
Dante Harris
While John's main concern is profit,
Dante's main concern is the employees of the store. Dante's the
store's assistant manager and runs the day shift. He's the glue that
keeps the place together, both as a business and as a small
community.
DeeDee
The DigiDup 2000 is a high-end digital black and white output machine. It is fast, has sharp quality, and
can collate, staple, and perfect bind. The DigiDup is not a photocopier. It has no glass. Originals have to be provided in
digital format or scanned. K.C. believes the DigiDup is alive and
calls it DeeDee. He talks to her and swears she talks back.
