I had the interesting experience recently of watching my new comic accomplish (and exceed) in two weeks what it took 2nd Shift many months to do. Mysteries of the Arcana's debuted to a nice size audience and gotten some fairly nice scores on certain voting sites. I'm very pleased.
A recent thread over at webcomics.com about "practice" or "starter" comics had me thinking. Is 2nd Shift a practice comic? The answer is yes. I'm practicing art and getting better. I'm practicing with a new style of writing, since I'm much more used to dramatic plots than comedic ones.
Still, it is also my creation and one I am proud of. I have no intention of letting it slip away just because another comic I'm writing happens to be doing better. All that means is I have to do better here. Become an even better artist and an even better writer.
I finally got around to fixing the vote incentive box. Why it broke? Long story but in the end, it doesn't matter. Point is, there'll be new voting incentives posted every time I post a page. This one is from Amanda over at Salt the Holly and was a Christmas gift. Thanks Amanda!
